About

candyheartKnown in civilian life as Erin Van Rheenen, Miss Move Abroad got her name when a friend Erin hadn’t seen in years said he’d heard she’d been working as a dancer in Nicaragua. She hadn’t, but that was about the only job and place she hadn’t tried. On hearing that she’d lived in Nigeria, Ireland, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Costa Rica, the friend dubbed her Miss Move Abroad.

She’s been trying to live up to the name ever since. Currently between move-abroad stints (not having a trust fund can cramp your style), she’s laying the groundwork for the next move. Erin is also writing a book of advice about moving abroad, and researching the third edition of her guide, Living Abroad in Costa Rica.

Erin is a widely published writer whose work has appeared in many newspapers, magazines, and books, including the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Arizona Daily Star, Transitions Abroad, the Imparcial (Oaxaca, Mexico), Internazionale (Italy), Retirement Without Borders, and many travel guidebooks. She has been interviewed on radio and television (from Rick Steves’ radio show to CNN)  about Costa Rica and about moving abroad in general.
